Osaka has been blessed with many kinds of traditional crafts to this day, thanks to the region's rich history and climate.  

These crafts are still manufactured carefully by hand in the traditional way, bringing comfort and enriching the daily lives of those who use them.  

We would now like to introduce to you these Traditional Osaka Craft Products.

The following mark-indication systems have been implemented to help make traditional craft products distinguishable from others.

Traditional Craft Products Designated by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry are:

Products designated by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry under the Act on the Promotion of Traditional Craft Industries, which was enforced on May 25, 1974, satisfy the following conditions:

  1. Products are used mainly in everyday life.
  2. The principal manufacturing process is conducted manually.
  3. Products are manufactured by using traditional skills and techniques that have a history of over 100 years.
  4. Products are made of the same raw materials that have been used over 100 years.
  5. The region of production has 10 or more enterprises, or 30 or more workers who are engaged in the manufacturing of the craft.

This is the “Traditional Craft Mark” labeled on the “Traditional Craft Products” designated by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Traditional Craft Products Certified by the Governor of Osaka Prefecture are:

Products certified by the Governor of Osaka Prefecture under the Guidelines for the Certification of Traditional Osaka Craft Products, which were enforced on April 1, 1985, satisfy the following conditions:

  1. Products are used mainly in everyday life.
  2. The principal manufacturing process is conducted manually.
  3. Products are manufactured by using traditional skills and techniques that have a history of over 100 years.
  4. Products are made of the same raw materials that have been used over 100 years.

This is the “Traditional Osaka Craft Mark” labeled on the “Traditional Osaka Craft” certified by the Governor of Osaka Prefecture.
